Character Matters, Unless You are a Liberal Democrat in a Tight Race for Your Party's Nomination

Lying and hypocrisy from Obama and Clinton, respectively.

Obama had greater role on liberal survey

By Kenneth Vogel

3/31/08 4:35 AM EST

During his first run for elected office, Barack Obama played a greater role than his aides now acknowledge in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion — positions that appear at odds with the more moderate image he has projected during his presidential campaign.

The evidence comes from an amended version of an Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire, filed under his name during his 1996 bid for a state Senate seat.

Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire.

They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize[d] his position.”

But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago nonprofit group that issued it. And it found that Obama — the day after sitting for the interview — filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer.

The two questionnaires, provided to Politico with assistance from political sources opposed to Obama’s presidential campaign, were later supplied directly by the group, Independent Voters of Illinois — Independent Precinct Organization. Obama and his then-campaign manager, who Obama’s campaign asserts filled out the questionnaires, were familiar with the group, its members and its positions, since both were active in it before Obama's 1996 state Senate run.

Through an aide, Obama, who won the group’s endorsement as well as the statehouse seat, did not dispute that the handwriting was his. But he contended it doesn’t prove he completed, approved — or even read — the latter questionnaire.

“Sen. Obama didn’t fill out these state Senate questionnaires — a staffer did — and there are several answers that didn't reflect his views then or now,” Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for Obama’s campaign, said in an e-mailed statement. “He may have jotted some notes on the front page of the questionnaire at the meeting, but that doesn't change the fact that some answers didn't reflect his views. His 11 years in public office do.”
You just can't trust what Obama and his aides say about what he wrote or didn't write, believe or didn't believe, vote or didn't vote, know or didn't know about anything. They just won't get pinned down. All things to all people, that's Obama, the liberal messiah.

Among the debts reported this month by Hillary Rodham Clinton’s struggling presidential campaign, the $292,000 in unpaid health insurance premiums for her campaign staff stands out.

Clinton, who is being pressured to end her campaign against Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination, has made her plan for universal health care a centerpiece of her agenda.

The campaign provides health insurance to all its employees, their spouses, partners and children — and that wasn’t interrupted by any lag in payments to insurance providers, said Jay Carson, a Clinton campaign spokesman.

He said the campaign this month paid off all outstanding bills to Aetna Healthcare and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Those payments will be reflected on a report the campaign will file this month with the Federal Election Commission, which Carson said will show “zero debt owed to both vendors.”

“Sometimes invoices are not paid immediately because we need additional information for our records, or to verify expenses,” Carson said in a statement e-mailed to Politico. “Sometimes invoices arrive at the very end of the month at the cutoff of the reporting period, which means that we are required to report them as a debt on the current FEC report, even where they are paid in regular course during the next month.”

But the unpaid bills to Aetna were at least two months old, according to FEC filings. They show the campaign ended last year owing Aetna more than $213,000 for “employee benefits.”

During the first two months of the year, the campaign did not pay down any of that debt. In fact, it accrued another $16,000 in unpaid bills last month, and it finished the month owing Aetna $229,000.

Hillary "Sniper Fire" Clinton is the Queen of Hypocrisy on health care and every other issue on which she claims to be an expert.

Sympathy for the Devil

Criminal alien Olga Franco

I have just finished reading an AP story titled "Bus crash suspect left Guatemala seeking better life" and I am positively sick to my stomach. It is nothing but a sympathy piece for illegal immigration.

You know the story. Never forget it. On February 19, 2008, illegal alien Olga Franco, who was initially identified as Alianiss Nunez Morales, rushed through a stop sign in her boyfriend's minivan and hit the back of a Lakeview school bus carrying 28 children. Four of the children died and 15 were reported injured.

Franco did not have a driver's license. She had been caught driving without one by law enforcement before and was driven home. A slap on the wrist followed by a $182 fine and she was free to continue breaking immigration and traffic laws with impunity. Until she killed four children, that is.

You can read the A-P story if you want. I would encourage you to do it. Be forewarned, however, that there is very little information about Franco's murder victims. Instead, you will be told of how poor and destitute her parents are, how Franco worked as a cleaning lady for "pennies," how half of Franco's Guatemala is steeped in poverty, and how she grew up "without malice in her heart."

Only two paragraphs (75 out of 644 words) of the story are dedicated to the real victims of Franco's crime:
"Franco, 24, is charged in Lyon Count District Court with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide in the Feb. 19 crash near Cottonwood, in which four students ages 9 to 13 were killed and 15 other people were injured."

and

"Killed in the accident were brothers Hunter Javens, 9, and Jesse Javens, 13, of Cottonwood; Emilee Olson, 9, of Cottonwood; and Reed Stevens, 12, of Marshall."

Will either the AP or the Rochester Post-Bulletin, who published the story locally, interview the parents, relatives and friends of brothers Hunter (who would have been 10 the day he was buried) and Jesse Javens, Emilee Johnson and Reed Stevens? Will we ever learn as much about these children who were senselessly killed as we have learned about the criminal alien whose actions took their lives? What about the 15 other children who were hurt? What is the extent of their injuries? Are any of them permanently disabled? Do pro-illegal immigration advocates and local legislators who favor "sanctuary cities" care?

How about assigning Christina Killion-Valdez and other staff who worked so hard on the P-B's award-winning "Broken Border" series stories on the victims of Ms. Franco's crime and the impact of all her criminal actions, including her immigration status, on the lives of their surviving relatives? Here's a head start:

Javens Brothers Laid To Rest
By Leslie Rupiper

Hundreds of people packed the Lakeview Public School Gymnasium to mourn the loss of the Javens brothers. But this day wasn't only about sorrow. It was about remembering the boys for who they were.

Pastor Gloria Anderson with Christ Lutheran Church says, "Jesse will be remembered as a young man who loved family members and friends an was always ready to give a hug." And then there's his little brother. Pastor Anderson says, "Hunter was an animal lover. He enjoyed his horse, Toby, zoos and reading about animals."

Hunter has a twin sister, and on the day of her brothers' funeral, she is celebrating a birthday. Pastor Anderson said the boys would not want this day to pass without remembering their sister, Sasha. So Pastor Anderson, led the congregation in a rendition of "Happy Birthday".

Party Crasher

Liberal blogger Gavin Sullivan is fond of crashing Republican events. He decided to grace the First District Republicans with his winning personality and boyish charms this morning.

Actually, Mr. Sullivan was rude, obnoxious and enjoyed getting in people's faces with his digital camera. Here is a taste of his own medicine.

Gavin cannot tell a lie. Wait, he is a liberal blogger. My bad.

Sleep deprivation has taken its toll on poor Gavin.

Next time you see Gavin, say hello. Here's what he looks like.

First District Republicans Endorse Davis in First Ballot

First District Republican-endorsed candidate Brian DavisMayo Clinic Oncology physician Brian Davis won the First District GOP endorsement in the first ballot. Of the 260 delegates seated, 160 cast their ballots for Dr. Davis. The 60% percent treshold for endorsement was 157 votes.

First District Republicans met at Albert Lea High School to endorse a candidate for First District U.S. House of Representatives and conduct party business.

Both camps were energized. Rep. Randy Demmer (R-29A) and Dr. Brian Davis are decent, honest men whose conservative credentials are impecable and whose values reflect the First District's. In the end, Brian Davis and campaign manager Brad Biers' hard work of enlisting and courting delegates throughout the district during the primary season won the day.

Brian Davis' fundraiser Charlie Bhur celebrates the endorsement

Randy Demmer acknowledges the crowd's applause after the ballot results

Demmer was gracious in defeat. "It was a disappointment, but I have gained by this process in terms of experience, friendships and growth." Demmer is particularly proud of the hard work of his volunteers.

"There is life after endorsement," Demmer reflected. His priorities now are to keep Republicans involved and possibly seek endorsement for his House seat.

Unity: Demmer (right) congratulates Davis on securing the endorsement of First District Republicans.

"I am humbled and honored by the support and confidence Republican delegates have placed on my candidacy," Davis said. He plans to work hard through November and as the newly-elected congressman of Minnesota's First District after that.

Davis is well poised to dismiss Dick Day's challenge in September and ready to take on Walz after that. The time is right for the First District Congressional District to dump Nancy Pelosi's surrogate Tim Walz and elect someone whose values truly reflect it.

Earth to Hillary

By Jeff Zeleny

HAMMOND, Ind. – To answer questions that have been swirling around her candidacy all day, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived here in northwest Indiana – just a few miles from her Democratic rival’s home on Chicago’s South Side – to unequivocally say she has no intention of leaving the presidential race.

“There are millions of reasons to continue this race: people in Pennsylvania and Indiana and North Carolina and all of the contests yet to come,” Mrs. Clinton said. “This is a very close race and clearly I believe strongly that everyone should have their voices heard and their votes counted and that includes Michigan and Florida.”

Then, she added: “There is a lot still to be done and I’m looking forward to campaigning hard over the next several months.”

The late-afternoon press conference came hours after Senator Patrick Leahy, Democrat of Vermont, said Mrs. Clinton “has every right, but not a very good reason, to remain a candidate for as long as she wants to.” Other party leaders on Friday fretted aloud that the nominating fight between Senator Barack Obama and Mrs. Clinton would damage the party.

Mrs. Clinton brushed aside those concerns, saying she disagrees.

“I think I believe that a spirited contest is good for the Democratic Party and will strengthen our eventual nominee,” she said. “We will have a united party behind whomever that nominee is. I certainly will do everything I can to make sure that we win in November.”

Poor pathetic Hillary. She is getting no love from her own dysfunctional party.

Earth to Hillary: the people telling you to quit the race are liberal Democrats. Forget the "vast right wing conspiracy." There is a vast left wing conspiracy to derail your lifelong evil plan to take over America.

There is one thing everyone can agree on. Hillary has reached bipartisan status: both conservatives and a growing number of liberals hate her guts and want her to go away. Now!

Racist, Anti-Semite Jeremiah Wright to Retire to $1.6 Mansion in Suburban Gated Community

The House that Racism, Intolerance, Anti-Americanism and
Anti-Semitism Built

Obama’s Former Pastor Getting $1.6M Home in Retirement

By Jeff Goldblatt

This was supposed to be the week that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. returned to the pulpit to preach for the first time since his anti-American sermons generated nationwide outrage and drew condemnation from his longtime parishioner, Barack Obama.

But, citing security concerns, Wright canceled his speaking engagements in Florida and Texas. A spokeswoman at his former church in Chicago said his schedule is pending.

A two-week FOX News investigation, however, has uncovered where Wright will be spending a good deal of his time in retirement, and it is a far cry from the impoverished Chicago streets where the preacher led his ministry for 36 years.

FOX News has uncovered documents that indicate Wright is about to move to a 10,340-square-foot, four-bedroom home in suburban Chicago, currently under construction in a gated community.

While it is not uncommon for an accomplished clergyman to live in luxury, Wright’s retirement residence is raising some questions.

“Some people think deals like this are hypocritical. Jeremiah Wright himself criticizes people from the pulpit for middle classism, for too much materialism,” said Andrew Walsh, Associate Director of the Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life with Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

“So he’s entitled to be tweaked here. So the question really is, how unusual is this? Somewhat unusual,” he said.

If "white supremacists are clearly in charge," as Barack Obama's friend and pastor of twenty years claims, how come they allowed Jeremiah Wright to purchase a $1.6 million home in a gated community?

As for the hypocritical race baiter and anti-Semite Jeremiah Wright, why not retire in the 'hood?

Presiding Over Chaos

"The candidates have got to understand that they have an obligation to our country to unify. Somebody is going to lose this race with 49.8 percent of the vote and that person has got to pull their supporters in behind the nominee."
-- DNC Chairman Howard Dean on the messy and ugly liberal Democratic primary season
By David Morgan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Democratic Party chairman said on Friday he hopes the increasingly contentious rivalry between presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton can be decided by July 1 to avoid a fight at the party's convention.

Howard Dean, former Vermont governor and a presidential candidate in 2004, urged the two candidates to focus on the November general election battle against Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the likely Republican presidential nominee.

"I think it would be nice to have this all done by July 1," Dean said on ABC's "Good Morning America" program. "If we can do it sooner than that, that's all the better.

"There has been some personal criticism," he said. "We don't want this to degenerate into a big fight at the convention."

Dean is worried about the PR nightmare of a convention floor fight for the liberal nomination for president, not any perceived obligation to the country.
The country would be well served if the Democratic Party were to implode either before or during their convention.

Leahy to Hillary: "Quit now!

"There is no way that Senator Clinton is going to win enough delegates to get the nomination. She ought to withdraw and she ought to be backing Senator Obama. Now, obviously that's a decision that only she can make. Frankly I feel that she would have a tremendous career in the Senate."
-- Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), a superdelegate, calling on Hillary to set aside her personal ambitions for the good of the Democratic Party of Evil

Hillary doesn't want "a tremendous career in the Senate," Senator Depends. The U.S. Senate is only a stepping stone on her way to the presidency. Who doesn't know that? Senator "Leaky" Leahy, apparently.
Hillary WILL NOT QUIT the race, you dems. So stop telling her to do it. Stop wishing she would do it. It's like you don't know how fanatical about the presidency the Clintons are. They feel entitled to it. It's their birthright, don't you know. The Clintons don't have one self-sacrificial bone in their rotund bodies.
Hillary doesn't care about the party. If she can't steal the liberal democratic nomination from Barack Obama, she will bring the party down with her.

Home: 'Tis Sweet Indeed

We got the all clear to return to the house tonight. There's a lot of cleaning up to do and the air compressors seem to be running at full power outside the window. The front yard has been torn up and we are wondering if we may be evacuated again. Nevertheless, it's good to be home again.

LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's (left) and paramour former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty's mugshots

Barack Obama's judgement is again in full display

Detroit's Kilpatrick pleads not guilty to perjury
The mayor and his former chief of staff proclaim their innocence and are each released on $75,000 bail. If convicted, Kilpatrick could face up to 90 years in jail.

By Stephen Braun, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer 1:15 PM PDT, March 25, 2008

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, pleaded not guilty today to charges of lying under oath about an affair and using taxpayer money in an attempt to cover it up.

The pair face charges of perjury, conspiracy, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office. They were released on $75,000 bail each, and preliminary examination has been set for June 9.

If convicted of all charges, Kilpatrick could face up to 90 years in jail.

The mayor has vowed to fight the civil felony charges, which grew out of an $8.4-million settlement of a lawsuit against him by police officials and the leaking of steamy romantic text messages he exchanged with Beatty.

In a brief news conference Monday, Kilpatrick had dismissed the case against him as "a very flawed process from the beginning." But the seriousness of the charges is daunting.

The indictment is the latest development threatening to derail Kilpatrick's meteoric rise. The youthful political figure gained fame as "the hip-hop mayor," both for his election at age 31 in 2001 and his penchant for the high life. Kilpatrick, who is married and has three children, has been dogged by allegations of a party at the mayor's mansion that featured appearances by strippers and recent revelations about his affair with Beatty.

Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy accused the mayor of lying under oath during a "public whistle-blower" trial last fall and trying to obstruct justice by attempting to hide his extramarital relationship with Beatty, who was charged with seven felony counts.

Here we go again: illicit sex, corruption, misconduct and indictments liberal democratic style. When will it end? Who is next?

Richardson Throws Hillary Under the Bus

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who served Bill Clinton faithfully while the former president was dating Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office and was who widely considered to be one of Hillary's top picks for running mate, threw the former first lady under the bus. Big time.

First a Tense Talk With Clinton, Then Richardson Backs Obama
By ADAM NAGOURNEY and JEFF ZELENY

PORTLAND, Ore. — “I talked to Senator Clinton last night,” Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico said on Friday, describing the tense telephone call in which he informed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton that, despite two months of personal entreaties by her and her husband, he would be endorsing Senator Barack Obama for president.

“Let me tell you: we’ve had better conversations,” Mr. Richardson said.

The decision by Mr. Richardson, who ended his own presidential campaign on Jan. 10, to support Mr. Obama was a belt of bad news for Mrs. Clinton. It was a stinging rejection of her candidacy by a man who had served in two senior positions in President Bill Clinton’s administration, and who is one of the nation’s most prominent elected Hispanics. Mr. Richardson came back from vacation to announce his endorsement at a moment when Mrs. Clinton’s hopes of winning the Democratic nomination seem to be dimming.

But potentially more troublesome for Mrs. Clinton was what Mr. Richardson said in announcing his decision. He criticized the tenor of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign. He praised Mr. Obama for the speech he gave in response to the furor over racially incendiary remarks delivered by Mr. Obama’s former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.

And he came close to doing what Mrs. Clinton’s advisers have increasingly feared some big-name Democrat would do as the battle for the nomination drags on: Urge Mrs. Clinton to step aside in the interest of party unity.

Good luck getting Hillary to focus on the good of the party rather than on her lifetime ambition. Bill Clinton's ineptitude as campaign advisor is in full display this presidential primary season. Check out the following paragraph.

Mr. Clinton had told his wife’s campaign that he had received several assurances from Mr. Richardson that he would not endorse Mr. Obama. One adviser who spoke to Mr. Clinton on Friday said that the former president was surprised by the Richardson endorsement, but described Mr. Clinton as more philosophical than angry about it.

"Philosophical." Right. You can bet your last dime that Angry Man Bill was fuming.

Mr. Clinton helped elevate Mr. Richardson to the national stage by naming him his energy secretary and ambassador to the United Nations. And Mr. Clinton left no doubt that he viewed Mr. Richardson’s support as important to his wife’s campaign: He even flew to New Mexico to watch the Super Bowl with Mr. Richardson as part of the Clintons’ high-profile courtship of him.

But Mr. Richardson stopped returning Mr. Clinton’s calls days ago, Mr. Clinton’s aides said. And as of Friday, Mr. Richardson said, he had yet to pick up the phone to tell Mr. Clinton of his decision.

Maybe Richardson should wait until about 3:00 a.m. to call Hillary. She would pick up the phone for sure then.

Clinton Sycophant in Chief James Carville had the most hillarious response to Richards' endorsement of Obama's presidential bid:

“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,” Mr. Carville said, referring to Holy Week.

Alrighty, then.

Mr. Richardson said he called Mrs. Clinton late on Thursday to inform her that he would be appearing with Mr. Obama on Friday to lend his support.

“It was cordial, but a little heated,” Mr. Richardson said in an interview.

Ya think? Richardson was smart enough not to deliver the bad news in person. Hillary is known to throw heavy objects at people who go against her wishes.

Disaster Ahead for Liberals

Poll: Divisive Dem Contest Could Boost McCain
By Fred LucasCNSNews.com
Staff WriterMarch 21, 2008

(CNSNews.com) - The lengthy Democratic primary contest bodes well for Republican chances of holding the White House, a new poll suggests.

As Democratic Senators Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Clinton of New York slug it out for the nomination, many of their supporters -- at least in Pennsylvania, site of the next major primary -- aren't committed to the party's ticket in November, according to a Franklin & Marshall College Poll.

Among Obama supporters, 20 percent said they would vote for Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the Republican nominee, if Clinton beats their candidate for the nomination.
Among Clinton supporters, 19 percent said they would support McCain in November if Obama is the Democratic nominee.

See the Franklin & Marshall College Poll here. Obama's and the Clintons' megalomania and blind ambition will bring the Democratic Party down to a humiliating defeat in November. You won't see me shedding any tears, however.

Bill Clinton = Joe McCarthy?

Obama Aide: Bill Clinton Like McCarthy

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A retired Air Force general compared former President Clinton to Joseph McCarthy, the 1950s communist-hunting senator, on Friday after Clinton seemed to question Democrat Barack Obama's patriotism.

Merrill "Tony" McPeak, a former chief of staff of the Air Force and currently a co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign, said he was disappointed by comments Clinton made while campaigning for his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a speech Friday in Charlotte, N.C.

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country," Clinton said. "And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

McPeak learned of the remarks while at an Obama rally in Salem, Ore. Afterward, he called Clinton's statement horrible and compared it to McCarthy, the Republican senator from Wisconsin who held hearings on suspected Communist sympathizers in the 1950s.

"It sounds more like McCarthy," McPeak said. "I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of
it."

Bill Clinton, the goosestepper, is at it again. He can't help it, though. The Clintons and their minions will do and say ANYTHING to have America by the throat again.

McCain Cruises While Dems Feud

Obama's lead over Clinton narrows: Reuters poll
Wed Mar 19, 2008 1:35pm EDT
By Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama's big national lead over Hillary Clinton has all but evaporated in the U.S. presidential race, and both Democrats trail Republican John McCain, according a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The poll showed Obama had only a statistically insignificant lead of 47 percent to 44 percent over Clinton, down sharply from a 14 point edge he held over her in February when he was riding the tide of 10 straight victories.

Illinois Sen. Obama, who would be America's first black president, has been buffeted by attacks in recent weeks from New York Sen. Clinton over his fitness to serve as commander-in-chief and by a tempest over racially charged sermons given by his Chicago preacher.

The poll showed Arizona Sen. McCain, who has clinched the Republican presidential nomination, is benefiting from the lengthy campaign battle between Obama and Clinton, who are now battling to win Pennsylvania on April 22.

McCain leads 46 percent to 40 percent in a hypothetical matchup against Obama in the November presidential election, according to the poll.

That is a sharp turnaround from the Reuters/Zogby poll from last month, which showed in a head-to-head matchup that Obama would beat McCain 47 percent
to 40 percent.

"The last couple of weeks have taken a toll on Obama and in a general election match-up, on both Democrats," said pollster John Zogby.

Matched up against Clinton, McCain leads 48 percent to 40 percent, narrower than his 50 to 38 percent advantage over her in February.

The political feuds, mudslinging and racial discord coming from the liberal Democratic side should be enough to tell the American electorate that neither Obama nor Clinton have what it takes to be President of the United States.

Happily Ever After

The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state's new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs.

In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.

In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with "a woman other than my wife," beginning in 1999.

As part of that relationship, Paterson said, he and the other woman sometimes stayed at an upper West Side hotel — the Days Inn at Broadway and W. 94th St. He said members of his Albany legislative staff often used the same hotel when they visit the city.

"This was a marriage that appeared to be going sour at one point," Paterson conceded in his first interview Saturday. "But I went to counseling and we decided we wanted to make it work. Michelle is well aware of what went on."

In a second interview with Paterson and his wife Monday, only hours after he was sworn in to replace scandal-scarred Eliot Spitzer, Michelle Paterson confirmed her husband's account.

"Like most marriages, you go through certain difficult periods," Michelle Paterson said. "What's important is for your kids to see you worked them out."

The First Couple agreed to speak publicly about the difficulties in their marriage in response to a variety of rumors about Paterson's personal life that have been circulating in Albany and among the press corps in recent days.
What is truly "stunning" is that anyone would expect a different kind of behavior from politicians of a liberal political stripe. I thought that after the Bill/Monica thing, people were supposed to be more open-minded about betrayal of marriage vows.
True, most marriages go through "certain difficult periods." However, not all of them lead to extramarital affairs. Those that do should not be normalized.
I am sick of these people's sordid personal lives being splashed all over the media. I do not care that Spitzer and Paterson have betrayed their wives. Keep your garbage to yourselves.

Miracle! Literally

I haven't been able to post for a couple of days because my family has been "displaced." The house explosion that took place on the southwest side of town early Wednesday morning happened across the street from where I live. Here's a picture my wife took from our living room.

The da Silva family is doing fine. I went to the house to get the Suburban on Thursday morning and was told we were ok to go home. When we got back from the hotel, however, we were told that they were getting high natural gas concentrations around the foundation (nothing in the house, though) again. So it was back to the hotel.

Minnesota Energy has put us up at the Holiday Inn South, so we are fine as far as lodging is concerned. Our kids are having a blast with the neighbor kids from across the street who are also staying there. They have been enjoying the pool and have had a wonderful time over all.

God is awesome! He spared the lives of the neighbors whose house blew up and kept everybody else safe. Rob, the homeowner, Liz, his fiancée and Alex, the renter were treated in our living room. Miraculously, they only had bruises, relatively minor cuts and scratches. We were also privileged to become somewhat of a staging area and temporary shelter for some of our other neighbors. I was about to make breakfast (cheese omelettes) for everyone before we were told that part of the neighborhood had to be evacuated.

The latest update we have is that we may not be able to return to the house until Sunday. They are taking natural gas readings hourly and won't give us the go ahead to go back until the readings are consistently low. We are ok for now and hope to go back to our routine sooner rather than later.

There are so many people to thank. Rochester's first responders (Gold Cross, PD and FD) were at the scene within minutes. They were methodical, professional, efficient courteous and reassuring. The Red Cross and Zumbro Lutheran Church took very good care of my family while we waited for word on whether we could go back home. Friends called on us, perfect strangers comforted us. The folks Minnesota Energy have been keeping us informed on the progress of their work and treating us with care. The staff of the Holiday Inn South have been extremely helpful and accomodating.

Rochester is a great community. I have been concerned that our recent growth spurt would suppress some of the Midwestern generous, caring nature that distinguishes us from the coasts. So many people in this community don't seem to appreciate the simple things that make us special. They are constantly complaining about not having enough to do in town. It's always, there are no restaurants, there is no cultural life, whine, whine, whine.

I like being "fly-over country." Let them keep their vernisages and escargot. Give me Nascar and lutefisk anyday. Ok, maybe not lutefisk.

Pelosi: Dem "Dream Ticket" Impossible

(NECN) - Thinking a Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton ticket sounds too good to be true for Democrats? The Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California says you're right.

"I think that ticket either way is impossible," Pelosi told NECN's Alison King shortly after an environmental event in Waltham, Massachusetts today.

Pelosi cited comments made by Clinton officials that John McCain would be a better commander-in-chief as an example of why the 'dream ticket' wouldn't become a reality.

The way Hillary has been pushing the "dream ticket," you'd think she is ahead in the committed delegate count. Truth is, Clinton is bluffing. The consensus seems to be that there is absolutely no way she can amass enough delegates between now and the convention to secure the nomination. Neither can Obama, even though he is clearly ahead of her.

The delicious irony is that Hillary's surrogates argue that she should get the nomination because she has won primary contests in states with the most Electoral College votes even though Obama is clearly miles ahead of her in terms of the "popular vote."

Flashback and unflattering Hillary picture warning:

ALBANY, New York, Nov. 20, 2000

(AP) Senator-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton began a victory tour of upstate New York Friday by calling for elimination of the Electoral College. At an airport news conference, the first lady said she would support legislation seeking a constitutional amendment providing for the direct election of the president. At the moment, Americans are waiting to see who wins Florida's 25 electoral votes and thus becomes the next president. Vice President Al Gore leads Republican George W. Bush in the popular vote nationwide.
At the time, Hillary was quoted as saying:

"We are a very different country than we were 200 years ago. I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president. I hope no one is ever in doubt again about whether their vote counts."
Alrighty then.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

-- Former VP nominee, Hillary supporter and fundraiser Geraldine Ferraro

Will Geraldine "resign?" Predictably, Hillary distanced herself from yet another surrogate throwing mud on her behalf.

Geraldine also believes that the media are "very sexist." Presumably because they are not prostrating themselves in worship before Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Liberal Democrat Hypocrisy and Corruption in FULL Display

Democratic Party Poster Boy Eliot "Client #9" Spitzer

DEMOCRATIC NY Governor Linked to Sex Ring

ALBANY — Gov. Eliot Spitzer was a client of a high-end prostitution ring broken up last week by federal authorities, according to law enforcement officials, a development that threatened to end his career and turned the state’s political world upside down.

Mr. Spitzer’s involvement with the prostitution operation came to light in court papers filed last week, the officials said, as federal prosecutors charged four people with operating the service, Emperor’s Club V.I.P. Mr. Spitzer was caught on a federal wiretap discussing payments and arranging to meet a prostitute in a Washington hotel room last month. The affidavit, which did not identify Mr. Spitzer by name, indicated that he had used the prostitution service before, although it was not clear how often.

Mr. Spitzer, 48, appeared briefly with his wife at his Manhattan office to apologize, but did not specifically address any involvement with the ring. He said he needed to repair his relationship with his family and decide what was best for the state, but he declined to take questions, leaving after barely a minute.

“I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong,” the governor said. “I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better.”

“I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family.”

The governor, a Democrat in his first term, then returned to his Fifth Avenue apartment and remained there on Monday night, receiving counsel from his advisers and weighing a possible resignation, an aide said.

The New York Times began investigating Mr. Spitzer’s possible involvement with a prostitution ring on Friday, the day after the prosecutors arrested the four people on charges of helping run the Emperor’s Club. After inquiries from The Times over the weekend and on Monday, the governor canceled his public schedule. An hour after The Times published a report on its Web site saying Mr. Spitzer had been linked to the ring, the governor made his statement.

NY Governor and Friend of Hillary Eliot Spitzer's trouble with "high-end" prostitutes actually pales in comparison to his attempt to issue illegal drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants and his efforts to smear a Republican opponent by using government resources.

Sex scandals sell better, as evidenced by the Old Gray Lady's recent focus on real and perceived ones. The NY times shameless attempt to smear Senator John McCain by suggesting, without evidence, that he was having an sexual relationship with a lobbyist is put on the correct perspective.

In Spitzer's case, there are FBI wiretaps, public witnesses and hard evidence linking the soon-to-be former governor of New York to illegal activity. By the way, someone please, please, PLEASE tell these disgraced politicians, both Democrats and Republicans to stop dragging their poor wives in front of the cameras when they get caught in some sordid mess of their own doing?

Hope for Liberals

You may have seen this email and have probably forwarded it to your conservative and liberal friends. I love it and added a few pictures. Enjoy!

Overcoming Liberalism: A 12-Step Program

Step 1: Admitting that you're a liberal

(Click on the image for a larger view)

This is the first step for every liberal on the way to recovery. It is important to understand that you're not "progressive", "moderate", or "enlightened". You're a liberal, and you need to be honest with yourself about that fact.

Step 2: Pledge to support your beliefs with facts

Realize that truth is more important than moral superiority and is the only way to come over to reality.

You must research beyond propaganda from the Sierra Club, Hilllary Clinton, and CNN to understand things as they really exist in the world. You can no longer argue based on "feelings" or emotion. You will actually need to back up your arguments with real information. This is a difficult step, because it means you can't be lazy any more.

Step 3: Love America

This may be the most difficult step for those of you who are hippies and peaceniks. Admitting that the country you hate actually stands as a beacon to defend freedom throughout the world can make some of you physically ill.

You might want to make a visit to a military cemetery to better understand that these men and women gave their lives so that you could spew hatred. Otherwise, you would currently be living in a police state that would never let you wear that nasty patchouli oil, let alone speak out against your government.

Step 4: Take a college level economics class

A Socialist is defined as someone who's never taken an economics class. Most Socialists have a hard time balancing their checkbooks, let alone explaining the simple concept of supply-and-demand. It's time to flush your complete ignorance of basic economics down the toilet and understand how the world actually functions. This concept will be very important for the next steps that involve communism, facts about corporations, and the inefficiencies of government.

Step 5: Just say "no" to Communism and Socialism

While this concept is obvious to most of the free world, it is an important step in your recovery process. If you have difficulty with this step, spend a week living and working in Cuba.

Step 6: Corporations are not evil

If you're reading this article on-line or in an email, it's thanks to corporations. If you get some kind of paycheck, you can thank corporations.

If you work for a nonprofit or the government, you still have to thank corporations. The nonprofit sector and the government wouldn't have any money to pay you without corporations.

It is also important that you understand that making a profit doesn't equate to "greed" or exploitation. Capitalism has created the greatest society inour world's history. Even communist countries need corporations to survive, so enjoy a nice, hot cup of reality.

Step 7: The government is inefficient

If you are one of those liberals who believes the government should tax us more in order to take care of society, you need to pay special attention to this step. You need to realize that government bureaucracy will waste most of your tax dollars, while the private sector will put your money to much better use. Even most Democrat politicians understand this to some degree, which is why Hillary's socialist healthcare proposal was voted down by a majority of both Democrats and Republicans. Go to your local post office or call the IRS to ask a tax question if you need a reminder about government inefficiency.

Step 8: The earth is not your "mother", and she's not dying

The time has now come to stop your donations to Greenpeace, The Sierra Club, and every other EnviroNazi organization to which you belong. Face the reality that the earth, society and our environment are better off today than ever in recorded history and that they are continuing to improve.

I realize that many of you tree huggers will have a very difficult time letting go of the Douglas Fir on this one. I would suggest reading "The Skeptical Environmentalist" by Bjorn Lomborg. Mr. Lomborg is a former member of Greenpeace and is currently a statistics professor at a university in Denmark. He set out to prove the world was in bad shape and ended up surprising himself by proving the exact opposite.

Step 9: Stop smoking the wacky tobacco

Okay, some of you might need to enter another 12-step program to complete this step. Marijuana is distorting your sense of reality, and you need to stop using it. Besides, you'll save a fortune on snacks.

Step 10: Eat a hamburger

If God didn't intend for us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat. You can put your sprouts and tofu on the hamburger, but get some meat into you. You'll look and feel better than you ever imagined.

You can always remind yourself that Nazi propaganda hailed Adolf Hitler as a vegetarian to get you through this step.

Step 11: Stop re-writing political history

It's now time to admit that Bill Clinton is a lying-cheating-sexist-racist idiot, Hillary Clinton is one of the worst role models for women in this country, Al Gore really did lose the 2000 election by every vote tabulation you attempt, Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War and didn't create the homeless problem, John McCain is not a typical Republican, and Jimmy Carter is a nice man but has one of the worst presidential records of anyone in history.

Step 12: Become a missionary (in the political sense)

Once you have completed the previous steps to overcoming liberalism, it's time for you to share this awakening with others who are not as fortunate. Go out amongst the liberal sheep and spread the good word of your freedom from the chains of ignorance that once bound you.

Congratulations, and welcome to reality!

Liberal Democratic Mudslinging

Hillary a "monster?" Obama's people say so.

Inside US poll battle as fight turns dirty for Democrats
By GERRI PEEV

HILLARY Clinton has been branded a "monster" by one of Barack Obama's top
advisers, as the gloves come off in the race to win the Democrat nomination.
In recent TV appearances Mrs Clinton had looked desperate and on the back foot.

In an unguarded moment during an interview with The Scotsman, Samantha Power, his
key foreign policy aide, let slip the camp's true feelings about the former First Lady. Her comments came as Mr Obama, whose defeats in Texas and Ohio on Tuesday were largely put down to a series of negative attacks on him, vowed to turn up the heat on Mrs Clinton over her claims to be the more experienced candidate.

The fragile truce was blown apart as the pressure for the nomination intensified, with Mrs Clinton winning in Texas and Ohio. Ms Power told The Scotsman Mrs Clinton was stopping at nothing to try to seize the lead from Mr Obama."

We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win. "

She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark."

Interestingly, the people in her innermost circle seem to not mind her; I think they really
love her." But she added: "There is this middle circle – they are really on the warpath. But the truth is she has proved herself really willing to stoop."

In recent TV appearances Mrs Clinton had looked desperate and on the back foot.Ms
Power agreed, and said: "Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there too."

You just look at her and think: ergh. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

The intellectually lazy are sounding the alarm about "Republican attacks" against the vacuous Barack H. Obama and Hillary's sychophants can't stop playing the victim/wronged woman card.

Given the offensive, racist, condescending and scurrilous charges Obama's and Clinton's people have been lobbying back and forth, they should be watching each other's own far left flanks instead of worrying about Republicans.

Al Franken: Hypocrite, Liar, Fraud

Franken faces $25,000 workers' comp penalty

By Kevin Duchscher, Star Tribune
Last update: March 4, 2008 - 11:07 PM

Campaign spokesman Andy Barr said that neither Franken nor his wife, Franni, were aware of the matter before Tuesday. They have lived in Minneapolis for the past few years and did not know about the state's attempts to reach them in New York City, he said.

"If it's wrong, they will pay what they owe," Barr said.

How generous of the Frankens to pay workers' compensation insurance three years after the fact.

"It's also possible that there's some kind of dispute that may be resolved in our favor," Bar continued. "This is, at worst, some kind of misunderstanding between [the Frankens'] bookkeeping system and the state's."

I wonder whose "misunderstanding" it was since it looks like Franken's hand may have gotten caught in the workers' comp cookie jar.

News of Franken's penalty was reported Tuesday in the Minnesota Democrats Exposed website run by Republican blogger Michael Brodkorb.

Go, Michael!

In financial disclosure forms that Franken filed last year with the U.S. Senate, he listed a salary of just over $1 million from Alan Franken Inc. The corporation, set up in 1991, provides Franken's services and collects fees and residuals for his work.

I wonder what Franken's salary would have been had he paid workers' comp.

According to Brian Keegan, a spokesman for the Workers' Compensation Board, New York officials began looking into the Franken corporation after a standard check of employers found that Alan Franken Inc. was not insuring employees for workers' compensation as required by state law.

It may have been a choice between paying workers' comp or making sure Franken made "just over $1 million."

According to state records, the New York Department of Labor found that the corporation had from one to six people working for it between February 2003 and August 2005, and as many as 17 in October 2005, Keegan said.

Those workers were classified as "independent artists, writers or performers," requiring their employer to cover them for workers' compensation, Keegan said.

The Workers' Compensation Board began sending Franken notices in April 2005 after discovering that the insurance hadn't been paid for nearly three years.

Officials first sought an explanation. Receiving no response, they sent a penalty notice to Franken in June 2005 that outlined rights to appeal.

The state then turned to a collection agency to reach Franken. When that didn't work, the state tried again in July 2006. Penalty statements were sent in August and December of 2006 and March 2007, Keegan said.

The judgment was finally entered against Franken in May 2007, and another notice sent by certified mail to his Manhattan apartment. Since then, Keegan said, three more statements have been sent -- the most recent in January -- without response.

Silence is golden. So much for Franken's "defender of the common man" act. When the little guys needed Franken, they got stiffed.

The Frankens bought a townhouse in Minneapolis in April 2005. Barr said that the corporation relocated to Minneapolis in January 2006.

I don't know. I may be wrong, but it sure looks like Franken's corporation skipped town.

But that's not all, boys and girls. It's happened before. Get a load of this next paragraph,

Alan Franken Inc. appears in New York records one other time, when it failed to pay withholding taxes for July 1996. A lien against the corporation was filed in Nassau County in June 1997 for $2,948.30, and the case was closed a short time later, said Tom Bergin, a spokesman with the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.

In a statement, Franken's campaign manager Andy Barr said, "I can categorically deny that there was any attempt to evade responsibility, and I doubt that there was some kind of error that was made, although until we know all the facts I can't say for sure what happened."

Sure, Andy.

This is not the first time that the former Air Amerika Radio talk show host has been connected to financial shenanigans. How many of you remember this from 2005?

Bronx Boys Club's Finances Investigated

By Alan Feurer
Published: August 12, 2005

The state attorney general's office and the city's Department of Investigation are looking into whether a boys and girls club serving poor children and ailing elderly people in the Bronx had improper financial dealings, including loans to the Air America radio network, state and city officials said yesterday.

The separate investigations are trying to determine whether the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club, run from an office in Co-op City in the Bronx, made improper loans of up to $875,000 to the radio network, known for its liberal programming and hosts like the comedian Al Franken, the officials said.

And,

Jim Grossman, a spokesman for Gloria Wise, said the club had given Air America about $875,000, though he added that he did not know exactly how, or in what form, it had been given. He also said the club and the network had reached an agreement under which the money had been placed in escrow and would eventually be repaid to the club.

At the time, Franken was quoted as saying,

"I don't know why they did it, and I don't know where the money went. I don't know if it was used for operations, which I imagine it was. I think he was robbing Peter to pay Paul."

Gee. That's three "I don't knows" in a row. Convenient. Franken sounded like Bill and Hillary Clinton testifying before a Grand Jury while underprivileged kids got the fuzzy end of the lollipop. All to float the sinking liberal Air Amerika Radio network.

Mr. Franken also said that the network's new owners "don't legally have to pay it back" - referring to the loans - "because we're a different company or something."

"But morally we do," he said.

Franken is definitely not a straight talker. I don't know about you, but I don't think Mr. Airhead Amerika has the authority to speak about the moral thing to do.

No Kidding!

"Granted, I am a little older and I have earned every wrinkle on my face ..."

Thoughts on "Super Tuesday 2"

The polls indicate Obama and Hillary are in a virtual tie in Texas and that Hillary is slightly ahead of Obama in Ohio.

Many have begun to write Hillary's political obituary. Some have even urged her to quit the race now to avoid further embarrassment, particularly after 11 consecutive defeats. Still others hope Hillary wins both Texas and Ohio, so as to force a brokered convention and the public political brouhaha that would surely ensue.

I have learned not to underestimate the Clintons when it comes to elections, however. They are at their evil best when cornered. Their rabid quest for power and their willingness to do go to any depths to get it are in full display this primary season.

Bill Clinton's performance on the campaign trail has been both disturbing and revealing. The racial overtones and insinuations that have come out of his mouth say volumes about their real attitudes and feelings about Black people. The message is clear: As long as African-Americans are supportive of and subservient to the Clintons' ambitions, they are a welcome asset. The moment any African-American wanders off the Clinton plantation, however, he is vilified in the most divisive and bigoted terms. Note how the Clinton camp has attempted to demolish the Obama mystique over the last few months.

From disseminating pictures of the junior senator from Illinois in African garb (shades of Willie Horton) last week to intimating that America would not be safe if the phone rang in the White House at 3:00 a.m., Hillary and her minions have thrown everything they have and more at Obama. Her most recent and perhaps most shameless attempt to smear Obama took place on last Sunday's "60 Minutes" when she said that "as far as she knows," her opponent is not a Muslim.

Incidentally, if the phone ever rings at 3:00 a.m. in a Hillary White House, Hillary would not be the one answering it. That' about the time Bill usually sneaks into the house, so he, not she, would be most likely the first one to answer the call.

Having said that, I don't care when Hillary loses whether it's in the primaries or the general election. I think it's high time we bury the Clinton mess. Forever.

As for Obama, he is all sizzle and no steak, all hat and no cattle and he blows a lot of smoke but there is no fire. Analyze his fiery speeches, dig into his charming rhetoric, research his utopian ideas and you will come up with nothing.

Obama is a liberal. There is very little difference between his and Hillary's leftist policies. He is just packaged differently. Hillary's only disadvantage in the primaries is that she lacks his charisma.
