The Politics of Superstorm Sandy

There has never been a time in the history of this country when a presidential election was disrupted, interrupted, postponed or canceled. The power to make any changes to "the times, places and manners" of elections rests with Congress but only as they relate to Senators and Congressmen (Section 4 of Article I) and "the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States" (Section 1 of Article II).

But then again, we have a Chief Executive who has little if any regard for the Constitution and has made a habit of circumventing it at his whim.

We've conducted presidential elections through some extremely dire and challenging times in the history of the Republic, particularly through the most destructive of man made disasters: war. The Civil War didn't affect them. The unrest of the Vietnam and Civil Rights Movement era didn't disrupt them either.

Gore v. Bush was the last time we had a so-called and mostly contrived constitutional crisis over a presidential election. There was a lot of hootin' and hollerin' but it all ended up as it should have.

From a strictly partisan political perspective, I think this present circumstance actually favors Democrats because they hold an advantage in terms of early voting. 0bama started to lose momentum about a month ago. He was and still is very much in danger of losing the job at which he has failed miserably.

0bama and his minions are known for shamelessly exploiting personal hardships and collective tragedy for political gain. As former 0bama chief of staff Rahm "The Godfather" Emanuel once famously said, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

If anything, the disruption and uncertainty caused by Sandy favors the president. It has disrupted the campaign and become a welcome opportunity to change the subject and provide the 0bama with a last ditch opportunity to demagogue the issue and do something he has repeatedly failed to do over the last four years: appear competent

It is my uneducated opinion that the disruption that Sandy is causing may well "disenfranchise" the electorate affected by it but in a local, rather than national, scale. Not enough to disrupt the presidential election in any way. Though it is unfortunate for those affected, our current system of government does not make electoral provisions for "acts of God."

0bama Lied, A Brave Navy SEAL Died

FATHER OF SEAL SLAIN IN BENGHAZI ATTACK DEMANDS ANSWERS AS GRISLY DETAILS EMERGE

“I knew that something was fishy. It just didn’t make sense that you’d have a long, drawn-out battle, and that no help would have been sent. I can’t say what their motivations are, and I’m not gonna speculate on that, but I do know that the Navy SEALs are incredibly honorable, and they have a code of ethics, a code of honor, and part of that code of honor is that they will never leave anyone behind…This was not necessary. I knew this could have happened, and my question in Washington, DC was, why didn’t this happen?”

~ Charles Woods, the father of slain Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods.

"Ultimately, as commander in chief, I’m responsible, and I don’t shy away from that responsibility. My number one responsibility is to go after folks who did this and we’re going to make sure that we get them. I’ve got a pretty good track record doing that.

Hail to the Hypocrite in Chief!

Self-Proclaimed Non-Divisive President Obama Calls Romney a Bullsh***er

As he left the Oval Office, Eric Bates, executive editor of 'Rolling Stone', told Obama that he had asked his six-year-old if there was anything she wanted him to say to the president and she had responded: 'Tell him: You can do it.'
According to Bates, Obama grinned and said: 'You know, kids have good instincts. They look at the other guy and say, "Well, that's a bull***tter, I can tell."'

After four years of chronic unemployment, terminal incompetence, revolving bailouts, skyrocketing deficits, unsustainable debt, blame games, shameless cover ups and endless drone wars, we ALL know who the real bull***tter is.

Barack Hussein 0bama: Small Man, Small Talk

"If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things."

~ U.S. Senator Barack Hussein 0bama, Democratic Party Presidential Nomination Acceptance Speech, Denver, Colorado, August 28, 2008

Hillary's Benghazi Smirk

"No one wants to find out what happened more than I do."

~ Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reacting to the damning evidence that the State Department and the White House knew the seriousness of the situation in Benghazi in real time and failed to respond.

Is Hillary implying that she wants to find out what happened in Benghazi even more than Barack 0bama does? Hmmmm ...

BTW, didn't the State Department and the White House themselves "cherry pick" one version of the events that precipitated the Benghazi
massacre over another? They deliberately went with the version that the attack stemmed from a protest that never took place as opposed to the version that it was a planned attack with definite terrorist ties.

No Money for Benghazi Consulate Security but Plenty for Mosque Makeovers

Curious how the 0bama misadministration has been refurbishing mosques around the Arab world but would not beef up security at our consulate in Benghazi as requested multiple times by the diplomatic personnel there prior to the massacre of the last 9/11.

FAIL: 0bama's Math Doesn't Add Up

I would laugh, but 0bama's "plan" is offensively condescending.

Come Clean, Amy Klobuchar !

Klobuchar takes aggressive tone, makes another non-denial denial after

The Daily Caller reported Oct. 19 that documents show Klobuchar helped keep Ponzi-schemer Tom Petters out of prison for years by choosing to prosecute only his early co-conspirators. Petters’ scheme later grew to involve $3.65 billion in assets, and is the third-largest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history.
Those documents show Klobuchar had enough evidence to target Petters during the early years of his criminal enterprise. Petters and his employees contributed more than $120,000 to Klobuchar’s campaigns for county attorney and U.S. Senate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After initially attempting to delay publication of TheDC’s investigation, and then refusing comment, Klobuchar’s campaign spokesman Linden Zakula issued statements that denied allegations never leveled against Klobuchar.
Klobuchar herself continues refusing requests for interviews, and her spokespeople won’t answer specific questions about the report.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. It's not time to clam up but to speak up, Senator Klobuchar. It's time to put some daylight between you and these documents. A little transparency will go a long way. Hiding behind your office is not enough to clear the air regarding your dealings with Ponzi schemer Tom Petters.

Answer the questions, ma'am. Your constituents need to know exactly whom they have elected as one of their U.S. Senators before they decide whether to reelect her.

Or are you just going to run the clock?
