"The Democratic leaders know that many in Congress disagree with their approach and that there are not enough votes to override the veto. I recognize that many Democrats saw this bill as an opportunity to make a political statement about their opposition to the war. They sent their message, and now it is time to put politics behind us and support our troops with the funds they need."
- President George W. Bush, immediately after vetoing the Democrat-sponsored Iraq Defeat and Retreat Spending Bill
Way to go, Mr. President! It is impossible for Democrats to put politics behind them and support the troops, however. Theirs is a defeatist nature. The liberal "support" for the troops amounts to no more than disingenuous lip service. The withdrawal bill the president corageously vetoed is the moral equivalent of spitting on our troops, not supporting them.

The way I look at it: The 'demoncrats' have it all planned out. Just present a bill that makes them look good (trying to get our boys home), knowing it will get vetoed, and that makes President Bush look bad. In reality they know that they cannot bring all our men home with any successful outcome. Too bad there are so many gullible enough to not see what is going on.
