Bush, McCain Warned Dems of Financial and Housing Crisis ... in 2005!

Watch liberal U.S. Rep Bwayney Fwank (D-MA) say that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were fundamentally sound financially and there was no need to regulate them. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) issued a statement in 2005 affirming that over the years Fannie and Freddie "have done a good job and are an intrinsic part of making America the best-housed people in the world."

These two fools ignored the warning signs and admonitions of the Bush administration in order to keep their Fannie/Freddie campaign piggy bank afloat and now America reaps the whirlwind.

Move over Bernie Madoff and make room for a couple more cell mates.

Obama Still Refusing to Take Responsibility for the Coming Economic Disaster

Even the Obama Times, I mean the New York Times cannot ignore the projected fiscal disaster on which the current liberal administration has set America. Faced with the dire predictions of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office regarding the disastrous consequences of his irresponsible, unsustainable tax-and-spend plans, Obama once again resorted to hiding behind the tired campaign argument about the deficit his administration "inherited" and the current economic crisis. I wonder when Obama and his lackeys are going to start assuming responsibility for the long term results of the disastrous socialist philosophy they are implementing.

Tim Walz: Teaching Responsibility

"As a high school teacher, the most important lesson I taught was responsibility."
-- Tim "D.U.I." Walz

Walz should run for president. Linda Pfeilsticker would make an ideal running mate.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case

Obama says he didn't know aunt's illegal status

By Nedra Pickler, Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO – Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he didn't know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believes that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The Associated Press found that Obama's aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. The woman, Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's late father.

A statement given to the AP by Obama's campaign said, "Senator Obama has no knowledge of her status but obviously believes that any and all appropriate laws be followed."

The campaign said it was returning $260 that Onyango had contributed in small increments to Obama's presidential bid over several months. Federal election law prohibits foreigners from making political donations. Onyango listed her employer as the Boston Housing Authority and last gave $5 on Sept. 19.

Onyango, 56, is part of Obama's large paternal family, with many related to him by blood whom he never knew growing up.

Obama's father, Barack Obama Sr., left the future presidential nominee when the boy was 2, and they reunited only once — for a monthlong visit when Obama was 10. The elder Obama lived most of his life in Kenya, where he fathered seven other children with three other wives. He died in a car crash in 1982. [More]

Following the law means deporting "Auntie" Zeituni. Does anyone believe it will happen? Would Obama enforce immigration laws if elected?

The Moribund Stream Media do not seem interested to ask if Obama plans to spread any of his own wealth around to benefit "Auntie" Zeituni.

Tim Walz's Double Life

I have said it for years, liberal Democrats sing one song in the district and quite another when they are palling around with the leadership of their party. While in the district, they talk like us and say they believe like us. When they return to the Capitol or to D.C., they couldn't be less like the folks back home. Tim Walz is no different.

Barney and Herb, Freddie and Fannie

'These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''

-- Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts in September 2003, fighting regulation and oversight of Fannie and Freddie

Media Mum on Barney Frank's Fannie Mae Love Connection

Democratic House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive.

Are journalists playing favorites with some of the key political figures involved with regulatory oversight of U.S. financial markets?

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews launched several vitriolic attacks on the Republican Party on his Sept. 17, 2008, show, suggesting blame for Wall Street problems should be focused in a partisan way. However, he and other media have failed to thoroughly examine the Democratic side of the blame game.

Prominent Democrats ran Fannie Mae, the same government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) that donated campaign cash to top Democrats. And one of Fannie Mae’s main defenders in the House – Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., a recipient of more than $40,000 in campaign donations from Fannie since 1989 – was once romantically involved with a Fannie Mae executive.

The media coverage of Frank’s coziness with Fannie Mae and his pro-Fannie Mae stances has been lacking. Of the eight appearances Frank made on the three broadcasts networks between Jan. 1, 2008, and Sept. 21, 2008, none of his comments dealt with the potential conflicts of interest. Only six of the appearances dealt with the economy in general and two of those appearances, including an April 6, 2008 appearance on CBS’s “60 Minutes” were about his opposition to a manned mission to Mars.

Frank has argued that family life “should be fair game for campaign discussion,” wrote the Associated Press on Sept. 2. The comment was in reference to GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her pregnant daughter. “They’re the ones that made an issue of her family,” the Massachusetts Democrat said to the AP.

The news media have covered the relationship in the past, but there have been no mentions since 2005, according to Nexis and despite the collapse of Fannie Mae. The July 3, 1998, Reliable Source column in The Washington Post reported Frank, who is openly gay, had a relationship with Herb Moses, an executive for the now-government controlled Fannie Mae. The column revealed the two had split up at the time but also said Frank was referring to Moses as his “spouse.” Another Washington Post report said Frank called Moses his “lover” and that the two were “still friends” after the breakup.

Frank was and remains a stalwart defender of Fannie Mae, which is now under FBI investigation along with its sister organization Freddie Mac, American International Group Inc. (NYSE:AIG) and Lehman Brothers (NYSE:LEH) – all recently participants in government bailouts. But Frank has derailed efforts to regulate the institution, as well as denying it posed any financial risk. Frank’s office has been unresponsive to efforts by the Business & Media Institute to comment on these potential conflicts of interest.

Whose fault is it again?
