Gallup Daily: McCain Moves Ahead, 48% to 45%

McCain enjoyng increase in support following convention

PRINCETON, NJ -- The latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update shows John McCain moving ahead of Barack Obama, 48% to 45%, when registered voters are asked for whom they would vote if the presidential election were held today.[More]

Give credit to the Palin effect, but also to John McCain's passionate country-first acceptance speech at the conclusion of the Republican convention.

Fired Up!

The Republican National Convention was in full swing today - much to the chagrin of Democrats who had hoped and wished for Katrina-like disaster in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. The convention picked up steam with its three main speakers tonight, President George W. Bush, former Senator Fred Thompson and Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman.

“Fellow citizens, if the Hanoi Hilton could not break John McCain’s resolve to do what is best for his country, you can be sure the angry left never will.”

“Some Washington pundits and media big shots are in a frenzy over the selection of a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit.

“Well, give me a tough Alaskan governor who has taken on the political establishment in the largest state in the Union - and won - over the Beltway business-as-usual crowd any day of the week.”

- Fred Thomson on Governor Sarah Palin

“What, after all, is a Democrat like me doing at a Republican convention like this? The answer is simple. I’m here to support John McCain because country matters more than party.

“When others wanted to retreat in defeat from the field of battle, when Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for our troops on the ground, John McCain had the courage to stand against the tide of public opinion and support the surge and because of that, today, our troops are at last beginning to come home, not in failure, but in honor.”

Blessed With a Baby

Arkansas Governor and John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin issued the following press release today:

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

Once again, the Palins chose life and love over rationalization and convenience.

I have been so sad for liberal Democrats who have wished disaster of Katrina-like proportions on ‘Nawlins so as to discombobulate the Republican Party convention this week.

Many must be brokenhearted and disappointed today as Gustav turned into a storm which caused damage but not the destruction Katrina brought to the Gulf Coast in 2005.

Now, Obama’s Brown Shirts will be able to concentrate on more pressing issues of national interest like Bristol Palin’s pregnancy.

Meanwhile, here's a timely reminder of how Obama would deal with a similar family situation.

I think it’s fair to say that the Obamas would be more likely to have their own grandchild aborted than the Palins.

Barack Obama's Brown Shirts in the MSM and the blogosphere have been quick to exploit Bristol's pregnancy for shameless political gain. Salon.com used to be one of Hillary's most trusted propagandists on the Web before they fell under the spell of the Obamessiah. Their twisted, hyper-partisan approach to the Palins' family matter is to reduce it to "
a sudsy soap-operatic scandal."

Abortion has become the central dogma of the fanatical liberal cult of which Barack Obama is now the principal deity.

Picture Perfect Pick!

In a bold announcement that deflated the Democratic Party post-convention sail the day after the Obamessiah's ascension, Senator John McCain managed to re-energize the Republican Party by choosing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

This is the perfect pick on a number of levels. Palin is a popular governor of a prosperous state. She has more executive experience as mayor and governor than Obama has ever had as "community organizer," state senator and U.S. Senator.

Palin is a true conservative: pro-life - Palin chose to have a child with Down's Syndrome knowing the challenges that accompany such a choice, pro-business, pro-market, pro-freedom and an evangelical Christian to boot. She is a member of the National Rifle Association and favors drilling in the ANWAR. Her oldest son is in the military and is about to be deployed on September 11.

Palin preempts Obama's choice of Biden.

Palin is a fresh, dynamic face, Biden is a 36-year Washington insider.

Palin has exective experience as governor, Biden has been an integral part of the Democratic Old Boys' Network for close to four decades.

Palin is telegenic, dynamic and a strong presence, Biden has hair plugs.

I would love to see Biden try his pitbull act on Palin. He won't have a prayer in the vice presidential debates.

Say goodbye to your post-convention bounce, Obama.
